In honor of his birthday, I am sharing a film I made to celebrate the life of Ambrose Burnside, the inventor of the sideburns. Ambrose was born on May 23, 1824 and died on September 13, 1881.
This film was co-written, designed and directed by my good friend, Reid Hitt, and narrated by Bill Jones. Every detail and plot point is historical accurate -- you can't make this stuff up! It features cut-out paper puppets and stop motion animation and was filmed on a light table. It premiered as part of Xperimental Puppetry Theater at the Center for Puppetry Arts.
